Ahlem Kassim is an intern at the Nobu Laboratory whose research focuses on exploring the role of mutations on morphological and functional maturations of iPSC-derived neurons. She will then further look at the impact of certain modifiers affecting neuronal differentiation that then contributes to neurodevelopmental disabilities. Her interests include analyzing gene expression and understanding functional characterization of neurons.
Ahlem joined the lab this past fall. Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, she is now a third year undergraduate at Boston University studying Neuroscience and Psychology on the Pre-Medical track. She aspires to continue research and one day become a physician-scientist.
