Jaya Prasad, PhD, MS

Dr. Jaya Prasad joined the Ishibashi Lab at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, in 2022 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, following the completion of her Master’s and PhD in Physiology at the University of Auckland, NZ. In 2025, she continued her work with Dr. Ishibashi after his transition to Boston University, where he joined as faculty at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Jaya’s postgraduate studies employed physiological, pharmacological and cellular techniques to improve our understanding of inflammation-related preterm brain injury. Her work focused on understanding the underlying mechanisms, forms of detection and developing novel therapeutic strategies to improve brain development in these infants.

Her current postdoctoral research employs a combination of novel cell labelling techniques and advanced high-resolution imaging modalities to further our understanding of the cellular, molecular and developmental mechanisms that drive how the brain folds during development.
