Rania Shah is a third year undergraduate at Boston University CAS double-majoring in Neuroscience and Biology with Specialization in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, and Genetics (CMG), on the pre-medical track. Her research interests center on neurological disease, and the cellular/molecular mechanisms underlying brain injury. Rania previously gained experience in molecular and computational neuroscience via research investigating Xrcc5-mediated DNA damage responses and cancer biology at the University of Connecticut, as well as spatial cognition and navigation using virtual-reality coding experiments at George Washington University.
As an intern in the Ishibashi Research Laboratory, Rania is furthering her experience via brain tissue processing, experimental techniques, and data analysis. Rania also enjoys volunteering as EMS, assisting patients in need of emergency support. She hopes to pursue a career in medicine while continuing to integrate neuroscience research with patient-centered care.
